Course Overview

Is your child full of big ideas, curious about how businesses work, or eager to turn a passion into something real?

Young Bosses in the Making is a fun, hands-on 4-week intro course designed to introduce young learners to the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Through interactive discussions, real-world examples, and simple team challenges, students will learn how to turn an idea into a plan, pitch their thoughts confidently, and understand the basics of value and money—all while practicing their English skills in a natural, real-world context!

Course Details

• Duration: 4 Weeks

• Time Commitment: 1.5 Hours per week (Live online session)

• Cost: 100% Free (Limited seats available for our initial pilot cohort!)

• Prerequisites: None—just enthusiasm and curiosity!

Learning Objectives

By the end of this 4-week workshop, students will be able to:

1. Identify Everyday Problems & Solutions: Recognize needs in their school or community and brainstorm creative business ideas to solve them.

2. Understand Basic Business & Financial Concepts: Grasp fundamental concepts such as product vs. service, income, expenses, profit, and pricing.

3. Craft a Simple Value Pitch: Articulate what makes their business idea unique and present it clearly to an audience.

4. Develop a Growth Mindset: View challenges as learning opportunities and learn how feedback improves an idea.

5. Practice Functional Communication: Apply practical vocabulary and communication skills in collaborative team exercises.

Weekly Breakdown (4-Week Snapshot)

Week 1: What is an Entrepreneur? & Brainstorming Big Ideas

• What do entrepreneurs actually do?

• Spotting problems around us and coming up with creative solutions.

• Mini-Challenge: Defining your first product or service idea.

Week 2: Who is Your Customer & What Makes You Unique?

• Understanding who needs your product or service.

• Why would someone choose your business? (Creating a unique value proposition).

• Mini-Challenge: Creating a quick profile of your ideal customer.

Week 3: Dollars & Sense – How Business Works

• Understanding cost, price, and profit in simple terms.

• Basic budgeting using real-world examples (e.g., lemonade stand, craft shop, digital services).

• Mini-Challenge: Setting a price for your idea.

Week 4: The 2-Minute Pitch & Graduation Showcase

• How to share your idea with confidence.

• Presenting your mini business plan to the class.

• Feedback, celebration, and next steps for young entrepreneurs!

Note for Parents: This free pilot program is designed to give your child a taste of real-world skills like leadership, problem-solving, and public speaking. At the end of the course, we’ll collect student reflections and parent feedback to help shape our upcoming full-year entrepreneurship curriculum!
