Course Overview

The Japanese Language, Culture, and Caregiving Communication (A2 Level) program is a 150-hour competency-based course specifically designed for Filipino healthcare professionals, nursing graduates, and caregivers preparing for overseas employment in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) and Technical Intern Training Programs (TITP).

Aligned with TESDA’s Competency-Based Training (CBT) framework and the Japan Foundation’s A2 Language Standard (JLPT N4–N5 transition), this course equips trainees with the essential linguistic skills, cultural fluency, and professional workplace etiquette required to deliver safe, compassionate, and dignified care to Japan’s aging population.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, trainees will be able to:

• Workplace Communication: Execute daily professional greetings (Aisatsu), apply the reporting framework (Ho-Ren-So: Report, Inform, Consult), and conduct active listening during shift handovers (Moshiawase).

• Cultural Competency & Team Dynamics: Navigate the organizational hierarchy of Japanese care facilities, respect Japanese senior care values (Omotenashi), and foster harmonious relationships within multicultural care teams.

• Caregiving Language Proficiency: Read and write essential caregiving vocabulary, Hiragana, Katakana, and basic medical/care Kanji (~100–120 characters).

• Practical Daily Care Execution: Conduct polite spoken communication (Keigo basics) for core daily living activities, including mobility assistance, meal support, hygiene/bathing care, and basic vital sign checks.

• Care Documentation: Interpret basic care plans, facility schedules, and accurately complete daily care logs (Kaigo Kiroku) using standard facility notation.
